We lived with my nonna when I was growing up. Nonna loved to bake, especially at Christmas and Easter. The aroma of her homemade biscotti, egg and sweet breads wafted through our entire home and more often than not she would set an extra place or two at the table for friends and family who followed their noses to our house!
If the kitchen was the heart of our little house, Nonna was its soul. Standing on a chair next to her I learned the importance of using the finest ingredients, the touch and the feel of the dough and the batters, and of course the heavenly taste of scrumptious desserts made from scratch
My love of baking stayed with me and long after nonna passed away I volunteered to bake one hundred pink Run for the Cure cupcakes from scratch, complete with the official pink ribbon! They were a huge hit, and not long after, Frostings was born.
Since then, I’ve taken a few classes at George Brown Culinary School and a workshop at the Bonnie Gordon School of Cake Design. I began slowly, making cakes and cupcakes for friends on special occasions. Before long friends of friends and complete strangers were calling me asking if I could make a cake or cupcakes for their special occasions.
